About Us

Welcome to WikiGardening

Some people collect stamps. Others restore vintage cars. Me? I collect dirt under my fingernails and moments of pure joy when a stubborn plant finally decides to thrive.

WikiGardening sprouted from twenty years of trial, error, and unexpected discoveries in my own backyard laboratory. What began as desperate attempts to keep houseplants alive gradually evolved into passionate exploration of everything from heirloom tomato cultivation to medicinal herb gardens to complete homestead systems.

This isn’t your grandmother’s gardening blog (though I’ve certainly borrowed plenty of wisdom from my own grandmother’s techniques). WikiGardening digs deeper, getting beneath the surface of conventional gardening advice to uncover the “why” behind the “how.”

Whether you’re here to identify that mysterious volunteer plant in your flowerbed, troubleshoot your struggling herbs, design a garden that works with your lifestyle rather than against it, or take your first steps toward self-sufficient homesteading, you’ll find practical guidance rooted in real-world experience.

I believe gardening isn’t just about pretty flowers or perfect produce—though we certainly celebrate those! It’s about reconnecting with natural cycles, creating resilient spaces that nurture both wildlife and people, and rediscovering ancient plant wisdom that modern convenience has nearly erased.

Every article you’ll find here comes from soil-stained hands and a curious mind. I promise to share both successes and instructive failures, always with an eye toward solutions you can implement in your own growing space, whatever its size or setting.

So grab your favorite garden-worn hat and join me. There’s always room for another seat at the potting bench.
